Evaluation

I started this course to improve my photographic techniques and image manipulation using photo shop program.I am mainly interested in landscape photography, involving water, sunrise, sunset and trees and fields.Since I started the course my photographic techniques have improved very much.I now know framing  an image, what the image should contain,  lines, contrast, composition and the rule of thirds.
Light writing is a new thing which I have learnt. I will be practising this technique very often in future.
I have also learnt to do the blogging and publishing my work which I learnt during the course.I also look into other peoples blog and have picked up few good tips.
My most enjoyable part is the image manipulation using photo shop program. It was very frustrating initially because at Burton College Apple computer was being used with Photo shop CS5 and while practising at home it was different as I have Microsoft PC and Photo shop Elements 9.Now that I have purchased the manual for the program I am now confident of image manipulations.Next aim is to learn the layering technique for image manipulations.
I have a  Nikon D5000 camera with a lens 18-105 which I use regularly, but I also have a lens 70-200 which I use occasionally. one of the things I need to use is the tripod on a regular basis.I have learnt that while using a tripod one can use the smallest aperture without any camera shake and so can get a nice sharp and crisp photos with a good deal of depth. This is one of the essence of landscape photography. Also use of tripod helps taking pictures in dark and at nights.

  1. Hey Umesh, great start to evaluating your work :)We went through portfolio presentation last wednesday and talked about other ways of presenting images...if you could do a little research for wednesday that would be great! Dont worry if you dont have the time, I shall provide a copy of the powerpoint as well as the unit brief on wednesday. If you could also bring any final images you have this wednesday that would be great, I shall also go over the layering technique you mentioned in you blog :)
